About Carissa

Hello! I'm Carissa

Hi, my name is Carissa. I've always had a passion for art. Throughout school, it was my sanctuary, and I excelled in art classes. I drew cartoon characters and simpler things on and off for years. I went to college for interior design, a field of art, however I didn't do much in terms of drawing while in college. At the end of 2020 I saw a YouTube video of a guy doing charcoal and graphite drawings and thought "I can do that!".

I started with simple subjects like a glass ball, a strawberry, and a water ripple. Surprisingly, they turned out quite well. Encouraged by this, I embarked on a six-month journey to create my first intricate piece: an elephant. It turned out to exceed my expectations, especially for my first piece.

At that moment, I had an epiphany – this is what I'm meant to do. I began to envision a life as a full-time artist and contemplated how to build my own art company. I started by setting up my art studio, investing in equipment, and devouring countless videos on Youtube. I didn't create my next piece until January of 2023 and that was Frank the puppy commission. After that I drew Surrender the Lion and I had confirmation that this is my calling.

When did you learn art?

I first started learning and nurturing my passion for art during my school years. Throughout school, art was my sanctuary, and I excelled in art classes. It was during this time that I began to develop my artistic skills and interests.

I mastered my skills of charcoal and graphite later in life as I began drawing again around 2020. I then moved onto mixed media in 2023.
